Tooth loss can happen at any age and for reasons spanning injury, decay, and damage. But that does not have to mean the end to a full, confident smile. Dental implants provide you with a solution to rebuild your smile with a long-lasting solution that looks natural and comes with a range of additional benefits.

By working with Alta Dental Care in Upland, you can count on expert dental implant placement that will leave you smiling. Each procedure is built with your individual situation in mind, ensuring a final result that blends in with your natural teeth.

What is Dental Implants?

Dental implants are prosthetics that serve as replacements for missing teeth. Each implant is comprised of three parts: the titanium post, the abutment, and the crown. Together, these work like the root and crown of a natural tooth, filling in any gap in your smile.

Each dental implant is placed individually into the gum, where it fuses with the jawbone to form a sturdy anchor. This is part of what makes them so durable, with many patients getting a lifetime of benefits from their new teeth. We custom-make our patient’s implants through a high-grade manufacturing laboratory, ensuring a final look that becomes a seamless part of your smile.

In cases of more significant tooth loss, dental implants can serve as anchors for specialized dentures. Called All-on-4 dentures, this unique prosthetic uses the implants as anchors for enhanced stability over traditional options.

Dr. Zaveri did an outstanding job on my implant. It was an amazing experience. I highly recommend him. Kudos to his staff for their excellent customer service.

Breaking Down the Dental Implants Process

  • Consultation: We ensure each patient is matched with the best option for their needs, which makes the consultation essential. We discuss your goals, examine your dental situation, and build a treatment plan alongside each patient.
Preparing the Area: This can involve removing a severely damaged tooth or placing a bone graft. A bone graft is only needed if the jawbone has deteriorated enough so it could not support the implant post.
  • Placing the Post: This is the surgical step in which we insert the post into the gum. Working with an experienced provider is key because even minimal errors in placement can impact your final result.
Taking Impressions: Taking impressions allows us to create a 3D model of your mouth so that the lab can make a custom crown that matches your teeth’s unique shape and appearance.
  • Placing the Implant: Once your gum has healed and the post has begun fusing to the jawbone, we place the crown (the tooth part) on the abutment. That’s it and then your smile is complete once again!

Same Day Dental Implants

Patients who opt to receive implants on the same day as their visit will enjoy these benefits:
  • Stability. When installing them, it gains stability through a phenomenon called “osseointegration.” This process creates a pure fusion of the titanium implant with the bone.
  • Aesthetics. They take the place of the roots, and then they are installed with crowns. The result is a prosthetic that appears much like the natural tooth. What you can enjoy is aesthetics that removable dentures will not be able to offer.
  • Function. Implants help restore correct oral functions.
  • Comfort. With stability and function, they prove to offer great comfort to patients.
  • Conservativeness. When you choose to receive same-day teeth implants, you get to save the health of the bone and teeth.

How is Same-Day Dental Implant Possible?

With the CEREC technology, you receive your new implants in a single appointment. CEREC, which stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, comes complete with 3D and CAM/CAD technology that allows for indirect ceramic restorations using a computer.

To prepare for the procedure, Dr. Zaveri first takes a photograph of the area to receive them. Then the dentist stores it on the computer as a 3D image. Our software approximates your new restoration by making biogenic comparisons to surrounding teeth. Dr. Zaveri then finalizes the model using 3D and CAD software. After the design phase, CEREC sends the data to a milling machine that fabricates your new teeth. When they are ready, Dr. Zaveri bonds it to your implants using resin cement.

Factors Affecting the Cost of Implants

One downside is that insurance companies don’t always cover the cost of dental implants. If you’re concerned about the cost of dental implants, speak to Dr. Zaveri about your various options. It’s also essential to understand how the factors listed below influence the final cost.

Here are several considerations in the dental implant process:
  • Materials Used.
  • Number of Implants.
  • Costs Associated with Surgery.
  • Restorations and Abutments.

Alternative to dentures

Dental implants make an attractive alternative to removable dentures. Since they are permanent, you care for them just like regular teeth. You can also speak, smile, and chew your food with confidence, knowing that your replacement teeth are firmly in place. One downside is that insurance companies don’t always cover the cost of dental implants as many consider them a cosmetic procedure. If you’re concerned about the cost, speak to Alta Dental about your various options. It’s also essential to understand how the factors listed below influence the final cost.

Things to Consider Before Getting Implants

Here are several considerations in the dental implant process:
  • Materials Used: Dr. Zaveri typically uses titanium for dental implants. Although ceramic may be an option in case of allergies or strong preference. However, titanium costs less
    to manufacture and install.
  • Number of Implants: A patient who only requires replacement of a single tooth will pay less than one who needs to replace all of his or her teeth.
  • Restorations and Abutments. Abutments help to connect your dental bridges, dentures, or crowns to your new implants. If you require one of these restorations, that adds
    to the overall cost.

We Work with Patients to Help Them Reduce the Cost

While we understand that implants can be costly, we also feel that their benefits are worth the price. We encourage patients who are considering this procedure to check with their insurance company. Regardless if you pay some or all of the cost out-of-pocket, you may be eligible for special financing with Care Credit. Care Credit offers short-term and long-term financing options with attractive interest rates. You should consider applying in advance of the procedure to make sure that you have financing in place.

FAQ

Are Dental Implants Right for Me?

This procedure is highly sought after, but it is vital to ensure it is ideal for you. Dental implants are best for patients who:

  • Want a permanent solution
  • Are willing to take the time for the process
  • Have sufficient bone mass in their jaw
  • Need to replace only a single tooth (or a couple)

Will Dental Implants Be Permanent?

The durability of dental implants is perhaps their most significant appeal. While some wear can occur, most patients can expect their dental implants to last a couple of decades. If the crown is damaged or worn, it can be replaced without starting the entire process over again.

How Do I Maintain My Dental Implants?

Taking care of your new tooth is as easy as caring for your natural ones. A healthy diet, healthy at-home oral hygiene, and routine dental visits are essential to promoting better results. The better the combination of these three, the longer your new tooth will last. Avoid acidic foods or too much sugar, and brush and floss regularly.

How Many Dental Implants Can I Get?

Theoretically, you could replace every tooth with an implant. However, this is not ideal. Patients usually can replace a smaller number of teeth (between 1 and 4) for best results. If you have a higher number of missing teeth, we can discuss your options during your consultation. For bigger gaps in your smile, it may be better to have dental bridges or dentures (which can be supported with implants).
